STEM Club

Project Scientist's STEM Club is an engaging program with STEM enrichment for girls ages 4 to 12. In STEM Club, girls are able to experience the magic of science, technology, engineering, and math through exciting, hands-on experiments. STEM Club is a virtual after-school program that meets once per week on Tuesdays 4:30 - 6 p.m. PT/ET. Students receive hands-on science content instruction aligned with NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), an at-home lab kit, and a collaborative environment to grow their STEM interests. Our sessions are taught by credentialed teachers who have been trained in equitable STEM teaching strategies. Join in on the fun!

Smash It. Bend it. Melt it. Let's Get to Work Material Engineers!

September 20 - October 11 || Tuesdays || 4:30 - 6pm PT

Cost: $260

It’s time to break it down with destructive testing. Our material engineers will put a variety of items to the test to see how they react to heavy weight and extreme stress for a critical understanding of what it takes to be durable.

What she will learn and corresponding NGS standards:

  • Apply scientific ideas to design a model and prototype (K-2-ETS1-2 ; 4-PS3-4)
  • Plan and conduct an investigation to test, compare, and analyze different materials (K-PS2-1, K-2-ETS1-3, 2-PS1-1, 2-PS1-2).
  • Perform observations with key variables in mind to determine which material is the best suited for a purpose (5-PS1-3, 3-5-ETS1-3, 2-PS1-2)

REGISTRATION FOR THIS MONTH IS NOW CLOSED. VIEW AVAILABLE PROGRAMS BELOW.

Adventures in Space Science

October 18 - November 8 || Tuesdays || 4:30-6pm PT/ET

Cost: $260

Scientists will suit up and blast off across the Milky Way! First stop...the moon! We'll study what our nearest celestial neighbor is made of, and how its gravity affects us here on Earth every day. Then, we're off to Mars! Time to check out the atmosphere and geology of the mysterious Red Planet to see if it's fit for humans to inhabit. 3...2...1...Blast Off!

What she will learn and corresponding NGS standards:

  • Using observations of the sun, moon, and stars to describe patterns that can be predicted (ESS 1-1)
  • Collecting data to provide evidence for how the motions and interactions of air masses result in changes in weather conditions (ESS 2-5)
  • Developing scientific skills of asking questions, making observations, performing investigations, collecting evidence and analyzing data (NGSS SEPs).

REGISTRATION FOR THIS MONTH IS NOW CLOSED. VIEW AVAILABLE PROGRAMS BELOW.

Amazing Brain Science

November 15 - December 13 (Off week of Thanksgiving) || Tuesdays || 4:30-6pm PT

Cost: $260

Your brain allows you to think, blink, breathe and it makes your heart beat. Learn about one of your most important organs, how it develops, and how to support the health of one of your body's most complex systems.

What she will learn and corresponding NGS standards:

  • Use a model to describe that animals receive different types of information through their senses, process the information in their brain, and respond to the information in different ways. (4-LS1-2)

  • Gather and synthesize information that sensory receptors respond to stimuli by sending messages to the brain for immediate behavior or storage as memories. (MS-LS1-8)

Registration closes October 26, 2022.
