Sandy Marshall

Sandy Marshall, a vanguard of change and a pioneer in nonprofit innovation is a thought leader in social responsibility and education. As the driving force behind Project Scientist since 2010, serving as its Founder and CEO (succession completed August 2023), Sandy has propelled this STEM education nonprofit for girls from concept to international recognition, impacting over 20,000 young minds across the U.S. and Mexico. The program's outstanding outcomes report a 91% boost in participant confidence in STEM abilities, and 93% envision a future career in STEM fields.

Sandy has a focused expertise in corporate community engagement, fostering partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and engaging thousands of employees from enterprises like Google, Bank of America, and 3M. Before her tenure with Project Scientist, Sandy founded SMA Impact, a consulting group supporting individuals and organizations committed to social change. Sandy's journey in service includes serving as the Executive Director and Founder of The NASCAR Foundation, where, through her leadership, raised over $5M annually and spearheaded initiatives benefiting children's hospitals, NASCAR driver nonprofits, and the national cause marketing campaign NASCAR Day.

Sandy dedicates her expertise as a trained hospice volunteer and certified death doula with a certificate in the essentials of palliative care chaplaincy. Sandy joyfully resides in Laguna Beach, California, where she enjoys gardening and exploring nature through hiking, back-country camping, and ocean swimming with her family. She shares her home with cherished companions - her dog, cats, and even a few chickens. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, complemented by certifications in nonprofit management, fundraising, and leadership programs.
