Founder Sandy Marshall hosted six aspiring scientists in her Charlotte-area backyard because there were no STEM programs for her then 4 year old daughter.

2013

First cohort of Project Scientist girls at Queens University in Charlotte, NC

2014

School Year Expeditions begin to allow girls to visit STEM companies when schools are closed for national holidays

2015

UNCC, CalTech, Johnson C. Smith campuses open

2016

Johnson C. Smith University (HBCU) and USC campus opens

2017

Johnson & Wales and Concordia University campuses open

2018

Loyola Marymount University campus opens 

2019

Macalester College

campus opens 

2020

Pivoted to virtual programming due to pandemic

Expanded to serving girls in 26 states

After-School Club launched 

2021

Girls from original cohort are graduating high school and going to college

Virtual Scholars Program for girls (ages 13 - 18) Launched

Trane Technologies becomes first $1M funder
